Word shortcut: select paragraph

Estimated reading time: 1 minute

Looking for an alternative to using the mouse to select text when making edits to your document? Well, following is the quickest way to select a paragraph in Word.

Note that to be able to select an entire paragraph, the cursor must be placed at the start (or end) of the paragraph. Because if it isn’t, you’ll only select the part of the paragraph from where the cursor is located.

With the cursor in the correct position, you can select the entire paragraph by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Down Arrow. This key sequence is for when the cursor is at the start of the paragraph. Or Ctrl+Shift+Up Arrow for when the cursor is at the bottom of the paragraph.

To select more than one paragraph, press the Ctrl+Shift keys. Then press the Down (or Up) Arrow as many times as needed to select the relevant paragraphs.
